OPEN LETTER AND SURVEY TO OUR BUSINESS COMMUNITY AND LOCAL RESIDENTS

As you may be aware the City Of Long Beach is intending to install a comprehensive Parking Meter Permit Management System in the Central Business District from Lafayette to Monroe Boulevards and adjacent side streets between the hours of 9.00am and 11pm.

The Board of the Chamber of Commerce wants you to be fully informed and wants to hear from you as soon as possible on whether you are supportive of the initiative so we can best represent your interests. Financial numbers have not yet been provided on likely revenue and expenses but the plan is to launch by  Memorial day this year.

The Request for Proposals (linked here on the City’s website https://www.longbeachny.gov/vertical/sites/%7BC3C1054A-3D3A-41B3-8896-814D00B86D2A%7D/uploads/Long_Beach_RFP_No._2021-PMSS1.pdf ) and  online presentation provide details on the location and cost of the intended spaces. 1350 spaces have been identified on Park Avenue, the center median and adjacent streets. Exact locations can be found at the end of the referenced document. Non permitted spaces would appear to be at a rate of $1 per hour..

The City expects to expand the parking meter program into the west end and other districts in the future.

We have attached a short survey which would be helpful in capturing everyone’s thoughts. This letter and survey is also available on social media

Your participation is strongly urged so that we can collectively engage the City.
